Leaf Window Suncatcher Craft
This leaf craft is not only fun to make but looks so pretty in the window with the sun shining through. It is such a great activity and classroom decoration!
- Cut a leaf shape out of black construction paper and then cut the inside so that there is about half an inch of black paper left.
- Cut out a square of contact paper just a little bigger than the leaf with the sticky side facing up.
- Place the leaf cut out in the square making sure that the contact paper covers the leaf.
- Cut out different fall-colored tissue paper into squares.
- Have your child or students carefully put the tissue paper on the inside of the leaf covering up all of the sticky parts.
- Cover the other side of the leaf with another piece of contact paper sealing the leaf off and cutting around the leaf making sure that the contact paper on each side is touching and completely covering the paper.
- Hang in the window and enjoy! We love hanging these up in October and November and then send them home for the children to put up in their house for Thanksgiving.
Fall Leaves Sensory Bin
Make a fun fall sensory bin out of pasta and fake leaves! Put the pasta in a plastic Ziploc bag with a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol and drops of food coloring. I love the way the bowtie pasta turned out with the faded red and orange dye! I also dyed rotini pasta purple and got some pumpkin-shaped pasta from Trader Joe’s. I added some fake leaves and a mini “rake” so that my students could pretend to rake up the leaves.
Fall Playdough Fun!
Use leaves and pumpkin molds with Play-Doh for more fall fun! I got these from Micheal’s in the baking section. This activity is great for fine motor skill strengthening as well!
Fall Nature Walk
The best way to learn about fall is to get out and nature and go on a walk! Enjoy the beautiful weather and investigate the changes in the leaves and environment. Use the FREE Fall Scavenger Hunt Worksheet to help you look for different animals and objects and check them off when you do!
The Leaf Man Craft
While you are on your Fall Scavenger Hunt, make sure to pick up leaves for this fun Leaf Man craft! The Leaf Man is a beautiful book with pictures of different things made out of leaves. We love making our Leaf People! You will need different leaves and contact paper. Leaves that are fresh work better because they lie flatter between the contact paper.
- Lay a large piece of contact paper on a table sticky face up.
- Have the child carefully place each leaf on the contact paper to resemble a person.
- Place another piece of contact paper on top with the sticky sides together, make sure that you leave an edge around the leaves so that they are sealed inside.
- Carefully press it flat and smooth any air bubbles out.
- Display your leaf people for everyone to see!
Painting Pumpkins
This is a twist on your typical pumpkin painting activity. Give your pumpkins a little more jazz with glitter paint! After our pumpkins dry, we make our own “pumpkin patch” in the classroom with a tissue paper vine where we display our pumpkins during the fall.
Fall Light Table Activity
We love using the light table in our classroom! You can also make your own by putting lights in a plastic container or get a light pad. You can find fall shaped acrylic table scatters to use on the table from Dollar Tree, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, or get them on Amazon*. Use these for math and literacy activities or just get creative and make different designs.
Fall Counters
Use acrylic table scatters and mini erasers to count with and for fine motor skills practice! Pumpkin-shaped poppers and pumpkin molds are fun additions to math activities as well!

Fall Leaves Colander Fine Motor Activity
Help your students or children strengthen hand-eye coordination and precision with this fun and easy fine-motor activity!
The leaf bundles and colander are from Dollar Tree. I separated each stem from the bunch and made sure the wire wasn’t exposed. Put tape on the ends just in case. Kids will love putting the leaves on the “tree”!
