Halloween Potion Experiment and Sensory Activity
Combine science, fine motor practice, and sensory fun with this exciting Halloween potion activity! This is a twist on the classic volcano experiment. Use Halloween containers to put baking soda and food coloring in. Add spiders and jewels for more festive fun. Fill squeeze bottles with vinegar and let your students make their “potions” by squeezing the vinegar into the containers of baking soda. Watch the containers explode with colorful fizz!
Halloween Sorting
Add tweezers to sorting activities for extra fine motor practice! We love sorting fun Halloween mini erasers. The ones shown are from Target, but these from Amazon are fun, too!* You could also sort Halloween colored craft poms and Halloween table scatters. Trays from Dollar Tree are perfect for different activities including sorting.
Halloween Numbers and Counting
Practice number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and counting with this fun fine motor activity! Get pumpkin acrylic table scatters from Dollar Tree, Hobby, Lobby, or Amazon and use them to count with. Add fine motor tools like tweezers, squeeze tweezers, and scoopers to pick up the pumpkins and drop them in the cauldron and jack-o-lantern containers. I got these containers from Dollar Tree and Target, here are some on Amazon.

Halloween Fine Motor Mats
Create your own Halloween fine motor mats by drawing letters on card stock and laminating them or find ours HERE and use them to put different objects on like craft poms, play dough, and mini erasers. If you have a collection of apple sauce tops, we love using those as well! Children can also practice letter formation by tracing the letter with a dry-erase marker.
Kinetic Sand Fine Motor Fun
Get festive by getting colorful kinetic sand, Halloween cookie cutters, and fine motor tools! I got the sand from the the Dollar Spot at Target, but HERE is some on Amazon.
Spider Web Counting
This is a simple and fun Halloween counting activity! Get some paper plates and draw a web on each one with a number on it. I love these orange ones that I got from Dollar Tree. Count the spiders and put the corresponding number of spiders on each web. Use fine motor tools like tweezers and scoopers to add extra fine motor practice!
Jack-o-lantern Eggs
Find cute Jack-o-lantern eggs at Target, Dollar Tree, or make your own for some fun fine motor Halloween learning activities! Opening and closing containers is a great fine motor activity. Put letter beads or mini erasers in each container and have the students pick and egg, identify the letter, and mark it on their paper.
Halloween Alphabet Worksheets and Printables
Spider Web Colander Activity
This simple and inexpensive activity includes three materials, a colander, spider rings, and pipe cleaners. I got all three of these items from the Dollar Tree. This activity strengthens hand-eye coordination and is fun to do! Children will first put the pipe cleaners in the holes of the colander and then put the spider rings on the pipe cleaners. Students can also practice math skills and make spider patterns and count the different spiders as you are putting them on the “web”.
Torn Paper Jack-o-lanterns
Tearing paper is great for building fine motor skills! Make a cute Jack-o-lantern by tearing paper and glueing them on a pumpkin and adding shapes for a face!
Halloween Clipping
Use clothespins to count and clip on fun Halloween cards. You can make your own or get the ones shown HERE. Download this free alphabet jack-o-lantern to clip letter clothespins on.
