*Sun Alphabet Fine Motor Mats: Use play dough or other small objects to put on the letters to practice fine motor skills.
S is for Skittles!
*Skittles Rainbow Experiment: I love to amaze my young students with fun science experiments! They love Skittles and were so excited to see what was going to happen when we poured water in the dish. All you do is line the Skittles up in a circle in a plate or dish and pour enough water to cover the bottom of the dish, but not too much. Then you have fun watching the rainbow slowly appear in the dish! This is also a lesson in self-control and patience as you have to watch for a few minutes to see the rainbow appear and the dish must stay still.

S is for Snake!
*Paper Plate Snake Craft: Use green paint and bubble wrap on a white paper plate to make “scales” and then cut the plate in a spiral to make the snake. Attach a tongue with red construction paper and draw or put eye stickers on the snake. These are so fun and can be hung to make it look like the snake is coming down out of a tree!
*Letter S snake craft- make a snake out of the letter S! We love making animal letters and putting them together to make an ABC book.
S is for Sprinkles!
We love practicing letter formation by “writing” letters in sprinkles! This is also an interactive sensory activity and is great for forming connections in the brain and is a great pre-writing and reading activity. Put sprinkles in a ziplock bag for less mess.
S is for Spiders!
Grab some paper plates and draw webs and numbers on each one. Use fake spiders like THESE to count with or find this spider counting game HERE!
S is for Shapes!
* Have fun making objects and designs out of shapes. We love using transparent shapes on the light table!
* Practice cutting out shapes with these FREE shape-cutting worksheets!
S is for Scissors!
Scissors are not just for paper, we love practicing our cutting skills with other materials like straws and playdough! These are not only fun activities but they also provide important fine motor skills practice. Cutting straws is also very entertaining as they tend to fly around when you cut them. Students can also practice their cleaning skills as they gather up all of the straw pieces off of the floor. So fun!
