Love is in the air and there are so many fun Valentine’s Day activities to do with young children! Whether you are a teacher or a parent, these hands-on activities will sure to make learning and fine motor skills development fun!
❤️Valentine’s Sensory Bins with Fine Motor Tools❤️
This activity combines both sensory learning and fine motor skills practice. Grab a plastic bin and put some colorful pom poms in it. Add some cute heart-shaped cupcake liners and a silicone heart pan to put the pom-poms in. Include fine motor tools like these tweezers for some fine motor skills practice as well. Incorporate math learning by having your child or students sort out the pom-poms by color!
❤️Positive Reinforcement Heart Jar ❤️
Promote positive behavior in your classroom or home with this heart jar activity. Each time your child or student follows directions and makes a “happy” choice, then hearts get added to the jar. When the jar is full they get to pick a fun activity to do. This is also a great team-building activity in the classroom because the students have to work together to fill the jar. Some of our favorite rewards are having a popcorn party, watching an educational video, and going to the “treasure box”. Get these heart table scatters from Target, Dollar Tree, and Amazon.
❤️Heart Chart Paper Activity❤️
This is such a fun activity that also helps build fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination in young children. Lay out chart paper on a table and draw hearts on it with different colored markers. Give your child or students some heart stickers to place on each heart! Incorporate math skills by adding numbers to each heart and having the children place that number of heart stickers on each heart.
❤️Heart Stickers with Dot Worksheets❤️
Speaking of stickers, take a break from using dot markers and use heart stickers instead with dot marker worksheets! This activity helps children to isolate the thumb and finger and helps with hand muscle strength and hand-eye coordination.
❤️Create a Heart Dice❤️
Make your dice games more festive by making a heart dice! Put heart stickers on a blank dice from Dollar Tree or put them over dots on a regular dice and add them to your Valentine’s math activities like the roll and cover game!
❤️Valentine’s Candy Sorting, Counting, & Patterns❤️
One of my favorite activities to do on Valentine’s Day is candy heart math! The excitement of the candy and the pretty colors help to make these learning activities fun! Click to get these FREE worksheets to use with conversation hearts candy!
❤️Valentine’s Candy Hearts Experiment❤️
How fun is this candy hearts experiment! This activity combines science with fine motor skills practice and is so fun! Put vinegar in one cupcake liner and baking soda and candy hearts in the other. Have your students or child use a dropper to transfer the vinegar from one heart to the other and watch the bubbles overflow!
❤️Heart Fine Motor Mats❤️
Fine motor mats are great for laminating for tracing or putting objects on like playdoh, mini erasers, pom poms, etc. Fine motor mats can be used during literacy centers, morning work, and independent work.
